How to Get to Geneva

Geneva is one of Switzerland’s largest cities and is very easily reached. All major airlines fly into Geneva with daily direct flights from the US & all of mainland Europe. The main airport is Geneva Airport, which is a 10 minute train ride from the city.

The main train station is Geneva Train Station, which leaves you directly in the city center.

Geneva is one of Switzerland’s most well-known & most highly visited cities!

Geneva’s old town is extremely beautiful & is clustered on a hill around Cathédrale Saint-Pierre – the home church of Protestant Reformation leader John Calvin.

Nearby is the Reformation Wall, which features the main figures of the protestant reformation in Europe.

Where to Eat in Geneva

If you are looking for ambience, there are some wonderful dining options in Geneva’s Old Town.

Les Armures is the oldest cafe in Geneva, and is located in the heart of the old town. The menu supposedly hasn’t changed since the 17th century and highlights Swiss cuisine such as fondue, raclette, & other classics in a chalet–inspired interior.

Brasserie Lipp is said to be the best restaurant in Geneva. Elevated French dishes, including seafood, beef & poultry, are the focus of this traditional eatery.

Another favorite is Auberge de Savièse. They serve fondue, raclette, & other Swiss dishes in a rustic, chalet-like atmosphere.

Vegetarian/Vegan? Alive is the most highly recommended vegan restaurant in the city!

Madame – Brunch & Coffee and Cottage Cafe are two highly recommended breakfast & brunch spots.

The warm season lasts from June to September, with an average daily temperature above 72°F. The hottest month of the year in Geneva is July, with an average high of 79°F and low of 58°F.

The cold season lasts from November to March, with an average daily temperature below 48°F. The coldest month of the year in Geneva is January, with an average low of 30°F and high of 41°F.
